A production may need to remove set material from a location, relocate a structure, bring additional lighting equipment or clear a work area at short notice. When the volume or weight is beyond a van, the move may require a box truck or a vehicle with a tail lift.

Urgent does not mean unplanned
A change in the shooting schedule, an extra unit, an earlier-than-planned wrap or the need to release an area can all create an urgent request. The useful response is not to promise a truck blindly: it is to check what has to move, where the vehicle can go, who is available to load and when the crew needs the work completed.
Before confirming, we review availability, load, route, time window and access conditions. If a tail lift, pallet truck or a specific loading arrangement is needed, it has to be agreed from the start. Availability is always confirmed for each operation.
When a box truck may be the right solution
- Set dressing, structures, large props or bulky production materials.
- Lighting, generators, production equipment and technical carts.
- Several pallets or units that cannot safely be loaded by hand.
- Removal after wrap or a move between locations.
- Transfers between warehouse, studio, exterior location and production base.
The vehicle is chosen from real measurements, weight, quantity and site access. A larger truck is not automatically better if the entrance or turning area is restricted; a vehicle that is too small can mean an unnecessary second trip.
Tail lift deliveries where there is no loading dock
Many locations have neither a loading dock nor a forklift. A truck with a tail lift can lower pallets, carts and heavier units to street level when there is sufficient room to operate safely. Production should indicate the weight of each piece, whether it is palletised, whether a pallet truck is needed and where the lift can be deployed.
The access route also matters: narrow roads, unpaved entries, security controls and limited parking can affect the appropriate vehicle and the timing of the move.
Information that speeds up an urgent activation
- Exact pickup and delivery locations, ideally with a map pin for a remote location.
- One operational contact and telephone number at each point.
- General photos, number of items, dimensions and approximate weight.
- The earliest loading time and the real deadline for delivery or removal.
- Truck access, height restrictions, ground conditions, security checks and parking restrictions.
- Available loading and unloading equipment or crew support.
A single production contact saves time when a driver arrives at a rural location, a night set or a controlled-access area.
Working around production, not against it
A film transport has different priorities from a standard delivery. There may be a short window between takes, crew working around the load or a removal that can only start after a scene is complete. Clear communication with production lets the driver work within that window and reduces disruption on set.
On Set Transporte coordinates transport for film productions in Barcelona and across Catalonia, from vans for manageable equipment to box trucks and larger vehicles where the operation requires them. Frequently asked questions
Can an urgent truck be arranged for a film shoot?
We first check vehicle availability, the real load, the route and the access conditions. If the operation is viable, we confirm the appropriate vehicle and collection time before committing to the service.
Do I need a tail lift?
A tail lift is useful when pallets, carts or heavy cases need to be lowered to ground level and there is no loading dock. Tell us the weight of each unit and the available space at the location.
What information should production send?
The exact location, collection and delivery time, photos, number of pieces, dimensions, approximate weight, access details and one operational contact at each end of the move.
Need to move bulky film material at short notice?
Send the location, timing, photos, dimensions, weight and loading conditions. We will check the right vehicle and availability before confirming the move.
